You won’t want to miss next week’s REALTOR® Advocate!

What’s in this edition?
Time is Running Out! Call for Action ends today!

Join the more than 4,300 NC REALTORS® who have told Commissioner Causey to reject the excessive rate increase.

As you heard last week, thanks to the advocacy of REALTORS® and homeowners throughout the state, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey notified the North Carolina Rate Bureau that he rejects their rate proposal and ordered a hearing to occur in September. He feels that the proposed rates are “excessive and unfairly discriminatory.”

We have heard from more than 4,300 NC REALTORS® but we still want to hear from YOU!

The Call for Action will close TODAY at 6:00 PM.

Let’s get one final push to show the Commissioner how important this issue is to our industry and our state!

Regulatory Report: NC Real Estate Commission Rules

Stay informed about rule changes which could affect your business

In late January, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission issued a rulemaking package which includes changes to multiple rules. It also includes rules which have been readopted without change as a part of the legislative rules review process.

You can review the entire rules package here.

The Commission has asked for comment on these rule proposals and will hold a public hearing to receive comment on Wednesday, March 13 at their office in Raleigh. You can also submit comments directly to the Commission via email.

NC REALTORS® Regulatory Affairs staff will be present at the public hearing to provide comments on behalf of the association but we want to hear from you! If you have any comments regarding the proposed rules that you would like included in our statement, please email Seth Palmer by no later than Friday, March 1.

Real Estate Wire Fraud Seminar

Learn how to Intercept an Interception

Did you know that according to Forbes magazine, hijacked real estate wire transfers resulted in losses nationwide of more than $56 million in 2017 alone?

During the 4-hour seminar, representatives from the NC Real Estate Commission, North Carolina State Bar, FBI, and Investor’s Title will answer these questions and many more about the growing wire fraud epidemic.

Seminars will be offered in Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Asheville. CE credit will be provided!

Registration is open so act now before all of the seats are taken. The Raleigh session is almost FULL!
