What’s on the General Assembly’s mind this week?

We are updating this section to provide you with more information about all going on at the General Assembly. Make sure to click on the “Learn More” link below.

The General Assembly has been working at a feverish pace all week, with both chambers holding marathon committee meetings and numerous bills receiving action. The House of Representatives spent the bulk of their week considering their budget package, while the Senate continued committee work in advance of next week’s crossover deadline.

There has also been action on important NC REALTORS® priorities.

So, you want to be on a Board or Commission?

Apply for a recommendation from NC REALTORS®

Each year, the 400+ state boards and commissions spanning all topic areas need new members. Since NC REALTORS® are knowledgeable in both in your industry, as well as involved in other important issues for our state their service on these various boards and commissions is important. NC REALTORS® regularly offers our recommendation for members who are interested in serving through an application process.

This year, important vacancies exist on the NC Real Estate Commission, NC Appraisal Board, and many others. You can find a complete list of current board/commission vacancies on the Governor’s website.

To apply for a recommendation from NC REALTORS®, please complete an application. We also ask that you submit a current resume, as well as a statement of interest. Please email those additional documents to Seth Palmer.

The application deadline for the second recommendation cycle is TODAY. Additional application cycles may be opened later in the year.

Issue Spotlight: Opioid Epidemic

NC REALTORS® Partners with NC Attorney General to combat opioid crisis

In this week’s Issue Spotlight, we wanted to discuss something which is affecting every community across our state and nation: the growing opioid epidemic. Thousands of people from all walks of life across our state deal with the challenges resulting from addiction every day including countless in our own families and communities.

While a true solution to the epidemic is unclear, it is recognized that important steps can be taken to help limit access to prescription medications.

Learn more about NC REALTORS®’ partnership with North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein.
