What’s on the General Assembly’s mind this week?

We are updating this section to provide you with more information about all going on at the General Assembly. Make sure to click on the “Learn More” link below.

Following a post-crossover quiet period, the General Assembly has returned to its work. With the Senate working towards the release of its budget proposal in the coming weeks, the House has continued its consideration of bills. In this week’s Update, we have conducted some additional analysis of the bills which made the crossover deadline and remain open for discussion for the remainder of the legislative biennium.

REALTORS® Legislative Meetings last week!

Last week, REALTORS® from across the country descended on Washington, DC for REALTORS® Legislative Meetings and Expo. It was great to see a strong NC REALTORS® delegation throughout the entire week. During Wednesday’s Hill Visits, attendees had the chance to hear from Senators Burr and Tillis, as well as meet with their respective member of Congress. Everyone had the opportunity to advocate for issues like Flood Insurance, Qualified Opportunity Zones, and Fair Housing. Check out the talking points from the 2019 Hill Visits.

On Friday, attendees had the opportunity to hear from President Donald Trump. He is the tenth sitting President to speak to an NAR event. You can watch the full speech here.

NAR has put together a complete summary of what went on throughout the week, as well as a discussion of what went on during the Board of Directors meeting.
