NC REALTORS® Descend on Charlotte for the 2020 Winter Leadership Meetings and Vision Quest

Last week, REALTORS® from across the state traveled to Charlotte to kick off 2020. Throughout the 4 days, attendees heard about many new initiatives, including a focus on the challenges of urban and rural communities, under the leadership of 2020 President, Maren Brisson-Kuester. They also had a chance to participate in numerous advocacy activities like NC REALTORS® PAC training, a Legislative Forum highlighted by a guest from Airbnb, and the unveiling of the Legislative Committee’s new plans for the year. The Legislative Committee recapped the successes of 2019 and set forth a new plan of opportunities for the 2020 legislative session.

Check out some of the pictures from these great events on our Facebook page and keep watching for updates as the work progresses.

They are coming. . .

No, not the creature from the black lagoon. The 2020 elections

As of today (January 24), the March 3rd Primary Election is just 39 days away. You can already request an absentee ballot, and in-person early voting will begin in 20 days on February 13 at sites across the state. It will conclude the weekend before the election (February 29).

It is vital that the REALTOR® voice is heard in every election! So, make sure that you head to the polls either on Election Day or during early voting.

If you aren’t registered to vote in North Carolina, YOU STILL HAVE TIME. You have until February 7 to register and be eligible to vote during the primaries. At last count, more than 41,000 NC REALTORS® or 91% of our membership are registered to vote. Let’s get that to 100% before the November elections!

Keep watching for more information from the #NCREALTORSVote2020 campaign. And for more information on voter registration, early voting, and much more, visit ncsbe.gov or your county board of elections.

Your calendar is correct, it is 2020

But the General Assembly’s 2019 long session did conclude on January 14, 2020

Yes, you read that correctly. The General Assembly returned from their holiday break on the 14th in what was actually a continuation of the 2019 long session. They did this to allow for a continuation of the rules governing that session and to continue consideration of pending legislation. Most notably, that included the continued consideration of the 2019 budget which remains in a state of limbo given the Governor’s veto. With no decision reached, the session adjourned without much fanfare or decision. Legislators will return to commence the short session on April 28.
