NC REALTORS® Send Letter to Governor Cooper
In response to the continuing executive order restrictions on evictions in North Carolina, NC REALTORS® sent a letter to Governor Roy Cooper on June 14 requesting an end to the eviction restrictions. North Carolina REALTORS® property manager members have been unable to remove renters who are not paying rent due to COVID for over a year. This creates a tremendous burden on property managers who still need to pay mortgages and others expenses.
The order was put in place to protect renters and stop the spread of COVID by keeping renters in their homes. However, now that COVID numbers have significantly declined, vaccines are available, businesses have returned to normal, and job opportunities exist, NCR feels it’s time for Governor Cooper to reevaluate his position on the order and allow housing providers to return to the same normality that the rest of the state is experiencing.
Many news outlets across the state are running NCR’s statement on this issue. In addition, Cathy Robertson, Chair, Property Management Division, was interviewed on CBS17 News on June 15. Access the interview.

Advocacy work is still continuing with this year’s legislative priorities even as House and Senate members are consumed with passing a state budget. We anticipate seeing more legislative activity after the July 4th break.
