How do you receive a Board Appointment?
Board appointments come from either the Governor or the General Assembly upon recommendation of the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Board terms are unique to each Board.

What is NCR’s Role in Board Appointments?
NCR recommends individuals for appointments to State regulatory agencies, such as licensing boards and commissions. The NCR Leadership Team, consisting of the President, President-Elect, Treasurer, Immediate Past President and CEO, is solely responsible for making such recommendations. NCR shall provide a letter containing the recommendation, signed by the NCR President, to the appropriate agency or official.

Does a recommendation from NCR automatically guarantee my Board seat?
No, NCR has established relationships with the Governor’s office and the General Assembly and our recommendations are strongly considered. However, this is a competitive process with the final decision resting with the Governor’s Office and the General Assembly.

What are some of the available Board seats?

  • NC Real Estate Commission - Works to license and regulate real estate brokers and salesmen.
  • NC Appraisal Board - License, certify and regulate real estate appraisers, including processing license applications and processing applications from schools and other organizations wishing to offer prelicensing/certification and continuing education courses.
